SARASOTA, FL — A Sarasota man faces charges after trying to pay an undercover police officer for sex during a pre-planned operation on Dec. 19, authorities said.

Bernard Rush Jr., 33, was charged with agreeing to secure prostitution, child neglect and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a Sarasota Police Department news release.

Rush unknowingly offered an undercover office $10 in exchange for oral sex. He said he planned to leave his 4-year-old child in the backseat of his car while he went to the hotel room, police said.

He was driving on an expired license and in possession of a marijuana grinder at the time of his arrest.

Rush was booked into Sarasota County Jail and released on bond.
