Mom Accused of Tossing Baby From Car Tells Judge She Needs a Break

The Florida mom was arrested Monday following a traffic stop.

A 34-year-old Opa Locka woman arrested Monday following a routine traffic stop evidentially needs some time off from parenting.

As least that’s what Monique Miller told a judge during her first appearance in court Tuesday, according to NBC. Miller, who is accused of resisting arrest and throwing her baby from a car, was told during that hearing she couldn’t see her child.

“OK, I need a break anyway,” NBC quoted her as telling the judge.

The case against Miller began to unfold Monday afternoon when a police officer tried to pull her over. Miller, who was driving with her baby on her lap, refused to stop at first, CBS reported. When she did stop, she threw the baby out of the car and reportedly began yelling obscenities at the officer.

The officer did manage to catch the baby, the networks reported, and bring Miller to jail. She was booked into the Miami-Dade correctional facility on child neglect, criminal mischief, and battery on a law enforcement officer charges, jail records indicate.

Miller remained in custody Wednesday morning in lieu of $7,500 bond, according to jail records.

It is unclear how old the baby is.
