Motorcyclist Killed In 4-Vehicle Crash On I-75: FL Highway Patrol

A North Port man was killed in a four-vehicle crash in southern Sarasota County early Sunday morning, Florida Highway Patrol said.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — A motorcyclist was killed in a four-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 75 in southern Sarasota County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The crash, which also involved a semi-tractor trailer truck and two cars, happened just before 3 a.m. near mile marker 180 between Toledo Blade Boulevard and Sumter Boulevard.

When the motorcycle, traveling south on I-75 in the right lane, hit the car in front of it, its driver, a 25-year-old North Port man, was thrown onto the highway, FHP said.

The truck and car, driving south in the middle lane, ran over the motorcyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
