Motorcyclist Killed In U.S. 41 Crash In Sarasota County: FL Troopers
A motorcyclist was killed after being hit by an SUV on U.S. 41 in Sarasota County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
NOKOMIS, FL — A motorcyclist was killed in a Sunday morning crash on U.S. 41 near Nokomis, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
A 62-year-old Port Charlotte man on a Harley Davidson motorcycle was heading south on U.S. 41 in the left lane, approaching Bayshore Drive, around 10:30 a.m.
At the same time, a Lincoln Corsair was also heading south on U.S. 41, approaching the same intersection in the right lane.

The SUV made a left turn from the right lane, hitting the front of the motorcycle, which was redirected to the southeast, FHP said. The motorcycle came to a stop in the median passthrough for Bayshore Drive.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by Sarasota County EMS.

Troopers didn’t say whether the SUV’s driver, a 68-year-old Michigan woman, was injured in the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating.
