When Kays attempted to make a left turn onto County Road 780, he crossed into the path of a bus driven by Jennifer Durrstein, 44, of Bradenton, the patrol wrote in an accident report. The bus was transporting nine students from McIntosh Middle School at the time.

That particular intersection only has a stop sign on Debrecen Road, troopers noted.
