Music Compound to host interactive Art & Music event

A brand new event is being presented by local music school, Music Compound, in collaboration with Children’s Art Classes. “Inspired! Interactive Music & Art Journey” will enable participants to create visual art masterpieces, inspired by live music.

Inspired! takes place at Music Compound (775 Bell Rd., Sarasota) on Saturday, April 12. The session for youths ages 8-17 will be from 4:30-5:30 p.m.; the adult session takes place from 5:30-7 p.m. and includes optional wine sampling (for ages 21+), provided by Fiorelli Winery.

Renowned Russian painter and art theorist Wassily Kandinsky will serve as the inspiration for the event. Kandinsky is widely considered a pioneer of abstraction in modern Western art. He saw music and color as being inextricably tied to one another – his experience with synesthesia resulted in seeing colors when he heard music, and hearing music when he painted.

Music Compound instructors and students will provide the music, which will feature different tempos to transform the participants’ artistic vision. Instruments will include piano, violin, drums and cello. On the visual art side, participants will pain in acrylics.

“For years, I’ve dreamed of hosting a live, interactive art and music experience, where aspiring artists create masterpieces guided and inspired by what they hear,” said Music Compound founder/owner Jenny Townsend. “I was thrilled when the folks at Children’s Art Classes seemed as excited as I was about the concept and came on board to help bring the event to life!”
