New Photos Released in Throb Nightclub Arson

As the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a Sept. 6 arson at the Throb Nightclub, it’s asking area residents for help identifying a possible suspect. It is also hoping someone will recognize a vehicle spotted near the scene that morning.

The fire at 2201 Industrial Blvd. in Sarasota was reported around 9 a.m. that Sunday when a neighbor spotted flames near the front entrance. While the sprinkler system stopped the fire from spreading, damage is estimated at nearly $10,000 and deputies would very much like to catch the person responsible.

Surveillance footage from the scene shows a tan-skinned man in light shorts and a dark, long-sleeve shirt walking up to the club’s door that morning. The man was carrying a gas can. After successfully starting the fire, the man is seen walking away.

The sheriff’s office released new surveillance photos on Monday, including a picture of what is believed to be a witness vehicle.
