New Video Shows Laundrie, Petito Shopping Hours Before Her Death
In new video footage, the FL couple is seen grocery shopping possibly hours before Gabby Petito's death at the hands of Brian Laundrie.

WYOMING — In what could be the last time she was seen alive in public — possibly just hours before being killed at the hands of her fiancé, Brian Laundrie — new surveillance footage from Aug. 27 shows Gabby Petito shopping with him at a Wyoming Whole Foods.
The Florida couple is seen pulling into the Jackson grocery store’s parking lot around 2:11 p.m. in the video footage, which was obtained by Fox News Digital.
The shopping trip took place not long after they left the nearby Merry Piglets, where witnesses saw Laundrie, 23, have a public argument with the Tex-Mex restaurant’s staff. He stormed in and out of the restaurant four times before Petito apologized to the eatery’s employees, Fox said.

In the newly released video, as they walk toward the Whole Foods entrance, the 22-year-old woman has her arms crossed in front of her, while Laundrie, wearing a hat and sunglasses, keeps his hands in his pockets.

Additional footage shows the pair perusing various sections of the store — among them the dairy and refrigerated section, cheese selection, and coffee bar — for about 15 minutes. The video shows them largely maintaining similar demeanors as they did in the parking lot: Laundrie with his hands in his pockets and Petito’s arms crossed.
After they left the store, they sat in Petito’s 2012 white Ford Transit van in the parking lot for about 20 minutes before leaving, turning onto Highway 89. That road leads to the Bridger-Teton Nation Forest, where Petito’s remains were found in the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping Area on Sept. 19, 2021, Fox said.
The “van life” couple, Long Island, New York, natives who had been living with Laundrie’s parents in North Port, Florida, embarked on a cross-country road trip to visit national parks in the western United States in early July 2021. They traveled in their van, which they converted into a camper, as Petito, who dreamed of becoming a travel vlogger and influencer, documented their trip for social media.
Prior to the Whole Foods footage, the last time anyone saw Petito alive was earlier that day at the Merry Piglets. A witness came forward to say she had seen the couple arguing at the restaurant, telling Fox 13 that Laundrie seemed aggressive.
On Sept. 1, 2021, Laundrie returned without her to his parents’ Florida home in her van. Her family, after not being able to contact her, reported her missing to the Suffolk County Police Department in New York on Sept. 11 of that year.
By Sept. 15, Laundrie was named a person of interest in the case, according to city of North Port officials. But he and his family refused to cooperate with the investigation into her disappearance.
Days later, it was revealed that her fiancé was nowhere to be found, either. His parents told North Port police on Sept. 17 that their son had left for a hike at Sarasota County’s Carlton Reserve on Sept. 14 — weeks later telling authorities he actually left their home Sept. 13 — and he hadn’t been seen since.
As the FBI and other law enforcement agencies launched their search for him, Petito’s body was found on Sept. 19, 2021, in a camping area in the Bridger-Teton National Forest, near the Grand Teton National Park.
Laundrie’s skeletal remains, including a portion of his skull, were found Oct. 20, 2021, in the Carlton Reserve, along with several of his belongings. The FBI used dental records to match the remains to him.
The District 12 Medical Examiner’s Office also used DNA analysis to confirm the remains belonged to Laundrie and determined that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
In June, Steven Bertolino, an attorney representing the Laundrie family, shared pages from a notebook found near Laundrie’s remains with the public.
In a written confession, Laundrie said Petito fell while crossing a stream at the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping area and injured herself. She had difficulty staying awake, and he said he worried she might have a concussion.
“I don’t know the extent of Gabby’s injurys (sic)," he wrote in his notebook. "Only that she was in extreme pain. I ended her life, I thought it was merciful, that it is what she wanted, but I see now all the mistakes I made. I panicked; I was in shock.”
The Petito family filed a civil lawsuit against Laundrie’s parents, accusing them of intentional infliction of emotional distress and knowing that their daughter was dead, as well as the whereabouts of her body. The families will face off in a Florida courtroom next summer.
