New Year’s Baby: Meet The First Baby Born At Sarasota Memorial In 2023
Sarasota Memorial Hospital delivered its first baby of the new year Sunday at 12:29 a.m.

SARASOTA, FL — It’s a boy! Sarasota Memorial Hospital and mom, Julie, welcomed the hospital’s first baby of the new year on Sunday just after midnight.
While many revelers were still out ushering in 2023, an adorable baby boy, Kaiden, arrived at the hospital system’s Sarasota campus at 12:29 a.m., according to a news release from SMH.
Kaiden weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces at birth and was 20 inches long. He also has a big sister, 4-year-old Aiyanna.

“It’s great to start the New Year this way,” Julie laughed. “It’s going to be different and fun celebrating his birthday every year.”
Baby Kaiden was delivered by certified nurse midwife Sarah Nicola with assistance from SMH Sarasota’s obstetrical team, the hospital said.

The mother-baby nursing team at SMH-Sarasota presented Julie with a special New Year’s baby basket filled with gifts for Kaiden and the family.
It was a busy end to 2022 at the hospital, as 11 babies were delivered at the Sarasota campus before nightfall on New Year’s Eve. The last baby of the year was delivered at 5 p.m.
In total, the health system helped to deliver more than 4,500 babies in 2022 at its two campuses in Sarasota and Venice.
