Ocean Blues Opens, Indigenous Soon to Follow
Some new restaurants open in Sarasota while some longstanding favorites move from their locations. Find out who is on the move in Sarasota.
Fully renovating the former location of The Table and New York New York, Ocean Blues has opened it doors to the public. The venue offers a wide assortment of food and drinks, with live entertainment starting at 9 p.m.
Also planning an opening soon is . Returning to familiar ground, Chef Phelps’ has fully renovated the former Canvas Café where he was the chef. This time, he is opening his own restaurant, Indigenous. Indigenous' opening is scheduled for Sept. 7.
Last month we reported the temporary closing of which was located on Siesta Key for many years. Although Café Continental will be moving off of Siesta Key it is not moving too far. In fact, Café Continental is in the process of renovating new space on Siesta Drive just east of 41.

A longstanding 20 year Sarasota restaurant is on the move. Shaner’s Pizzeria and Sports Bar has moved from its Clarke Road location to the former Horsefeather’s location at 1923 Ringling Blvd. Now open and serving from its downtown location with a new menu to follow.
Adding another location, this time in Lakewood Ranch is . Eric Bein will be taking over the former space vacated by The Serving Spoon, adding his signature touches, and opening this Fall.
