SARASOTA-BRADENTON, FL — Here's the latest restaurant and bar news in Sarasota and Manatee counties:

Toastique Opening This Summer

A national chain, Toastique, will open in downtown Sarasota this summer.

It will open at 10 S. Lemon Ave. in The Mark, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

Currently, there is only one Florida location in Winter Garden, the chain’s website said. In addition to Sarasota, two other Sunshine State eateries — one in Tampa and another in Orlando — are planned.

Hamlet’s Eatery Celebrates National Hot Dog Day

Hamlet’s Eatery, a food truck parked at The Bazaar on Apricot and Lime, will celebrate National Hot Dog Day Saturday with a do-it-yourself hot dog topping bar, according to a Facebook post.

Vegan options will be available.

Saturday is also the eatery’s third birthday celebration. Free beer samples from Sun King Brewery and Big Top Brewery will be available.

Ocean Prime Coming to Sarasota

A two-story Ocean Prime restaurant is opening in The Quay along the downtown Sarasota waterfront, according to a news release from parent company Cameron Mitchell Restaurants. It’s the company’s 19th location overall.

The more than 9,500-square-foot planned restaurant featuring outdoor terraces on each floor will open in late 2024. It will include more than 350 seats, two bars and two private dining rooms.

The restaurant’s upscale menu features seafood and steaks, hand-crafted original cocktails, special features and decadent desserts.

Healthy Fast-Casual Restaurant Opens

A new healthy fast-casual combination, Saladworks and Frutta Bowls, has opened in Lakewood Ranch, according to the Bradenton Herald.

The restaurant, located at 14555 State Road 70, serves salads, warm grain bowls, wraps, smoothies and more.

Screaming Goat Taqueria Opening in Osprey

Screaming Goat Taqueria, a staple in the Gulf Gate neighborhood, is opening a restaurant in southern Sarasota County, according to the Restaurants in Sarasota blog.

It will open by the end of the year or early next year in Casey Key Plaza.

The restaurant was previously working to open a downtown Sarasota location, but those plans were scrapped.
