Suspect Injured In Officer-Involved Shooting In Sarasota: Police

SARASOTA, FL — Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in the 500 block of Beneva Road Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Officers responded to reports of a robbery near Beneva Road and Fruitville roads around 10 a.m., according to a Sarasota Police Department news release.

Several minutes later, shots were fired, police said.

The suspect, who was injured in the shooting, is in stable condition, according to SPD.

The officer, who hasn’t been identified, was uninjured in the incident. They’ll be placed on administrative leave during an investigation into the shooting, according to department police, the agency said.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate the shooting, while Sarasota police are investigating the robbery.
