Order Some Super Bowl Snacks For Game Day In The Sarasota Area

SARASOTA, FL — With the Super Bowl taking place Feb. 7 in Sarasota’s own backyard at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa — and historically, featuring a hometown team — many in the Sarasota area are excited about this year’s match-up between local football heroes the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic will likely affect how many people watch the Super Bowl this year, though. In the past, many might have opted to host a large Super Bowl watch party or to head out to a local watering hole for the game.

So, what are your options this year? The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has offered guidelines for watching Super Bowl LV. The CDC suggests watching the game at home with those you live with or enjoying a virtual watch party.

“If you do have a small gathering with people who don’t live with you, outdoors is safer than indoors. This year choose a safer way to enjoy the game,” the CDC said.

If you host an outdoor viewing party, use a projector screen to broadcast the game. Also, make sure guests are wearing masks and are six feet apart, the CDC added.

For many Super Bowl fans, the snacks are as important as the game. Just because you’re staying in this year or scaling down your guest list doesn’t mean you have to have to forgo your favorite game-day munchies.

Wings N Weenies

This Sarasota icon, which has been around since the mid-1980s and is currently located at 5495 Fruitville Road in Sarasota, has a lot to offer for Super Bowl Sunday, but make sure you place your order ahead of time.

“On ‘Super Bowl Sunday’ you have to order in advance. You can’t imagine how many pounds of wing are sold on that day and they’re all made fresh,” they wrote on their website.

Munchies 420 Café

In the Gulf Gate area, Munchies 420 Café is known for its late-night snacks, including its chicken wings. The restaurant is taking orders for wings and other catering items ahead of the big game and warns customers to not wait until the last minute to place an order.

Veg

Veg, located at 6538 Gateway Ave. in Sarasota, offers vegetarian, vegan and seafood platters for Super Bowl Sunday. Options include various veggie wraps, shrimp or ahi-tuna wraps, vegan sliders, mezze platters with several spreads, veggie lasagna, and kung pao cauliflower or barbecue jackfruit family meals. Order by Friday morning to pick up your platter Saturday.

Grab some wings, other snacks and beer from Sarasota Brewing Company for the big game. The brew pub is also offering game-day food and drink specials.

Hooters

This national chain offers game-day comforts to fans watching from home. Hooters offers 14 wing sauces – boneless and otherwise – for you to choose from. The chain also offers $10 off any $60+ order or MVP bundle leading up to the Super Bowl.
