Osprey Ave Closure Rescheduled
Osprey Avenue between Mound Street and Bahia Vista Street will remain temporarily closed through February 2012 for the same construction project

Monday, Nov. 7 was supposed to be the start of Osprey Avenue's closure due to construction of a lift station.
However, the city announced today that Osprey Avenue between Mound Street and Brother Geenan Way will now remain open until Monday, Nov. 28.
To coordinate on-site construction work, the closure has been rescheduled to begin Nov. 28 for 60 days. Local traffic only will be allowed between Brother Geenan Way and Ringling Boulevard.

The city said the closure is necessary while crews install a forcemain as part of a significant capital improvement project to build a new lift station in nearby Luke Wood Park.
The detour route for southbound traffic is U.S. 301 and Orange Avenue for northbound traffic. Message boards are posted in the vicinity notifying drivers about the detour, the release said.

According to the city, when completed Lift Station 87 will be very reliable with redundancy and a diesel operated backup system. It also will be one of the largest lift stations in the State of Florida housed underground. The entire project is expected to be completed by October 2012.
