Passenger Dies After Being Thrown From Truck: FL Highway Patrol
A driver and passenger were thrown from a pick-up truck in a single-vehicle crash in the Sarasota area Sunday night, FL Highway Patrol said.
SARASOTA, FL — A driver and passenger were thrown from a pick-up truck in a single-vehicle crash on Fruitville Road Sunday night, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
The crash happened around 7:20 p.m. just east of Spring Brook Farm Road.
The driver, a 49-year-old Myakka City woman, traveled off the road onto the paved shoulder.

After overcorrecting to the left, she traveled back across the travel lanes, hitting the guardrail and overturning, FHP said.
The passenger, a 53-year-old Sarasota man, was brought to a local hospital with critical injuries and later pronounced dead.

The driver suffered minor injuries in the crash, which is under investigation.
