Passenger Killed In I-75 Single-Car Crash: FL Highway Patrol

A 70-year-old North Port woman was killed in a single-car crash on I-75 Saturday evening in Sarasota County, Florida Highway Patrol said.

NOKOMIS, FL — A woman was killed Saturday evening in a single-car crash on Interstate 75, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The car was heading south in the inside lane at mile marker 194, near the Laurel Road exit, around 6:30 p.m.

The driver, a 72-year-old North Port woman, swerved left to avoid slowing traffic and entered the median, hitting the tree line, FHP said.

The driver was seriously injured in the crash and brought to a nearby hospital.

Her passenger, a 70-year-old North Port woman, was pronounced dead at the scene, the agency said.
