Pedestrian Fatally Struck By SUV In Sarasota County

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — A pedestrian was killed Friday when he was struck by an SUV in Sarasota County, authorities said.

A spokesperson for the Florida Highway Patrol said the incident occurred around 9:10 p.m. near 4112 Bee Ridge Rd.

According to police, the victim was walking north across the eastbound lanes of Bee Ridge Road when he entered the path of an SUV driven by a 63-year-old Sarasota man. The left front end of the SUV struck the victim, who suffered critical injuries in the collision.

Police said the victim, identified only as a 63-year-old man from Sarasota, was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the SUV was not hurt in the crash.
