Pineapple Drop Returns to Downtown Sarasota

Tampa Bay area residents are invited to ring in the New Year Florida-style as the Pineapple Drop returns to downtown Sarasota Wednesday.

The all-day celebration kicks off at 2 p.m. when rides, games and food vendors start the celebration with the State Street Fair. As the evening approaches, two live band and DJs will present music on four separate stages and dancing in the streets is promised to start at 3 p.m. Live acts include The Griswolds and Doug Deming & The Jewel Tones.

The countdown to midnight takes place at Lemon and Main where the pineapple will drop to signal the start of 2015.
