Police: $2,000 in Hair Extensions Stolen From Hair Salon

Sarasota Police hope surveillance video helps identify women suspected in three different incidents.


Some shoplifters may target high-priced electronics or jewelry, but none will look as fabulous as the two mystery women sitting on an expensive stash of hair extensions in Sarasota.

Investigators are hoping the public can help identify the two women suspected of stealing $2,000 worth of hair extensions from a local salon, according to Sarasota police.

The thefts occurred over three visits to Mimi’s Hair Salon in the 2000 block of North Washington Blvd.

The women are seen putting the extensions in large bags while out of view of employees, but in clear view of a security camera. The video of the women stealing the hair extensions can be viewed above or at YouTube.

Footage July 21 shows one woman stuffing packages extensions in her purse. Two days later, the second suspect is seen doing the same — even climbing a ladder to grab more hair extensions.

A video shows both women in the store July 24. At one point, the women are seen exchanging purses so that one of the suspects can load up the second bag with loot.
