Police: Woman Texted 'Driving Drunk Woo' Before Fatal Crash

The Miami woman is facing a DUI manslaughter trial in connection with the 2013 crash.

A jilted girlfriend out on the town following a breakup texted her boyfriend minutes before a fatal crash that would lead to the death of one of her friends.

That’s according to police reports Miami prosecutors entered into evidence in the state’s case against Mila Dago. Those text messages, police records indicate, show the now 24-year-old woman texted her ex “driving drunk woo,” and “I’ll be dead thanks to you,” the Miami Herald reported.

Dago did not die during the Aug. 14, 2013, crash, but her friend Irina Reinoso, 22, did, CBS News reported. Dago, the network reported, was driving a rented Smart Car that blew a red light around 4:45 a.m. and ended up t-boning a truck driven by 51-year-old Benjamin Byrum.

Those final texts were sent to him just three minutes before the crash.

Dago and Byrum both survived the crash, News-Press reported. Dago’s blood alcohol level was logged in at .178 following the wreck, which is more than twice the legal limit, the paper noted.

Dago has pleaded not guilty to DUI manslaughter, two counts of DUI with damage to a person and vehicular homicide.

No trial date has been set in the case.
