Sarasota Among Top U.S. Cities People Are Moving To: Report
Compared to other U.S. states, Florida saw the largest increase in new residents over the past 15 months, a new report shows.
SARASOTA, FL — Sarasota ranked high among the top 20 cities people are moving to, according to PODS’ third annual relocation trends report.
The report reviews data on moves made by PODS’ customers throughout the past 15 months and identifies the environmental factors that inspired the trends.
Sarasota to the No. 2 spot on the list, after being No. 1 in the 2022 report.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Wilmington, North Carolina nabbed the No. 1 spot for 2023.
Florida, which saw the largest increase in new residents, was well represented among the top 20 cities named in the report. Other cities in the Sunshine State that ranked high include:- No. 3 - Orlando
- No. 4 - Ocala
- No. 8 - Jacksonville
- No. 9 - Tampa Bay
- No. 12 - Melbourne
Economics appear to be the largest factor influencing consumers' decisions to move, with low tax rates, warmer weather and more affordable housing prices being the main motivators behind their choices, the report said.

This is different from the 2022 report, where people were primarily influenced by the opportunity to work remotely and moved to be closer to loved ones.
