Sarasota County Names Its Procurement Manager

Mark Thiele has been named procurement manager for Sarasota County by Terry Lewis, . Thiele has been procurement manager for Cape Coral in Lee County since 2007, a Sarasota County release said.

“Mark brings a unique background of county and city procurement experience, as well as financial, budget and human resource operations,” Lewis said in the release. “He successfully implemented a number of programs and improvements in Cape Coral that are very similar to the changes we’re making in Sarasota County’s procurement operations."

Thiele's appointment comes after , and into the county's procurement practices. 

“Mark also is familiar with the NIGP report and other reports on our procurement program and we have briefed him on our ," Lewis added. "His approach to procurement is closely aligned with the recommendations of the reports and we expect his knowledge and experience to be valuable as we implement them.”      

Thiele also has served as director of purchasing for Collier County, director of finance for Crystal River and as the head of a firm providing human resource services.
