Sarasota County Students Make Accusations Against Math Teacher

SARASOTA, FL -- Following the arrest of a Booker High School math teacher for inappropriate sexual contact with a 16-year-old Manatee County student, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune is reporting that Sarasota County students have now come forward with allegations against the teacher (see related article).

According to the Herald-Tribune, Sarasota County Schools Superintendent Todd Bowden told the school board about the accusations by Sarasota County students during a recent school board meeting.

Bowden told the school board that the district began an internal investigation after Peterson’s arrest on April 24 to see if any Sarasota County students had concerns about Peterson’s behavior. He said the investigation yielded accusations that were forwarded to the Sarasota Police Department. Bowden did not say how many students came forward or the nature of their accusations.
