Sarasota County Transit Options Extended On New Year’s Eve

Revelers in Sarasota County will have extended public transportation options on New Year's Eve as the county tries to prevent drunk driving.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — To encourage revelers to stay off the roads if they’ve been drinking on New Year’s Eve, Sarasota County Area Transit services will offer extended ride hours on the holiday.

SCAT’s OnDemand and Siesta Key Breeze Trolley services will remain active until 1 a.m. Saturday, the county said in a news release.

The extended service is part of a “Ride – Don’t Drive” campaign from Sarasota County government and the Florida Department of Health.
