Sarasota Drug Bust Nets 5 Arrests
A search warrant was executed on Friday at a home targeted for narcotics sales.
Five people inside a 9th Street home in Sarasota face charges ranging from driving on a suspended license to possession of cocaine following a Friday bust.
According to the Sarasota Police Department, officers with the narcotics unit served a search warrant at the 2050 9th St. home following an investigation into the possible sale of narcotics from the home. Once inside, officers arrested five people on drug and driving charges.
Detectives also seized an estimated 70 grams of marijuana, 5 grams of rock cocaine, 2 grams of powder cocaine, 4 grams of prescription pills, $330 in cash, a 22 caliber revolver and a SKS rifle.

Jose Avalos, 22, of 2050 9th St.

- Possession of cocaine with intent to sell within 1000 feet of a park (felony)
- Possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1000 feet of a park
- (felony)
- Two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (felony)
- Possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor)

- Possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor)

- Driving while license suspended habitual offender
