At all grade levels tested, students in Sarasota County public schools increased their average scores over last year’s scores on the writing portion of the 2011 Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test. This year’s average district scores, released today by the Florida Department of Education, were higher than state averages for each grade tested.
According to the school district, in Sarasota County more than 9,200 public school students in grades four, eight and 10 participated in the writing assessment. The group included students with disabilities and English-language learners.
