Sarasota Flooding: Roads To Avoid

The Sarasota Police Department has reported a number of flooded areas Tuesday afternoon.

SARASOTA, FL — The Sarasota Police Department is asking motorists to steer clear of several local roadways due to flooding concerns Tuesday afternoon.

The roads motorists will want to avoid are:

  • The area of Fruitville and Lime
  • Fruitville Road and Tamiami Trail
  • 5th and 6th streets and North Washington Boulevard (U.S. 301)
  • Waldemere and Osprey
  • 2000 block of Ringling Boulevard, near East Avenue

It is unclear just how soon local roads will return to normal.

The entire Tampa Bay area remains under a flood watch until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Showers are anticipated throughout the day Tuesday with the possibility of more thunderstorms, as well.

Scattered thunderstorms are also anticipated throughout the day on Wednesday and into the evening hours. Rain is expected to continue on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
