Sarasota Government Offices To Close For Fourth Of July
Sarasota County and city offices will close for Independence Day.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL -- Most Sarasota County government offices, including libraries and the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County, will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.
There will be no Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) bus service on Independence Day. However, the Siesta Key Breeze trolley will be operating from 10 a.m. to midnight.
Most of Sarasota County Parks, Recreations and Natural Resources' recreation centers will be closed, but Arlington Park will be open from noon to 5 p.m., and the Payne Park Tennis Center will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m..

All solid waste facilities, including the Central County Landfill, the Citizen's Convenience Center and Chemical Collection Centers will be closed for the holiday.
Curbside collection services for trash, recycling and yard waste will run as follows:

- Monday, July 2 and Tuesday, July 3 - no changes.
- Wednesday, July 4 - no collection services.
- All remaining collections delayed by one day due to the holiday.
- Thursday, July 5 - collection for Wednesday customers.
- Friday, July 6 - collection for Thursday customers.
- Saturday, July 7 - collection for Friday customers.

City of Sarasota administrative offices will be closed Wednesday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
Residential garbage, recycling and yard waste pickup will not be affected. There will be no commercial pickup July 4. All collection will continue as regularly scheduled on Thursday, July 5.
Hours of operation at recreation and cultural arts facilities will vary:
- Bobby Jones Golf Club, 1000 Circus Blvd., will be open regular hours: 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Childrenās Fountain at Bayfront Park, Ringling Boulevard and Bayfront Drive, will be closed.
- Lido Pool, 400 Benjamin Franklin Drive, will be open regular hours: 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
- Payne Park Skate Park, 2110 Adams St., will be open from noon to 4:30 p.m.
- Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, 1845 John Rivers St., will be open from from 6 to 10 a.m.
- Sarasota Municipal Auditorium, 801 N. Tamiami Trail, will be closed.
- Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 N. Tamiami Trail, will be closed, including the Box Office.

Venice City Hall will be closed Wednesday, July 4, for the observance of the Independence Day holiday.
Garbage, yard waste and recyclables will not be collected due to the closure of the landfill. City residents whose normal collection day is Wednesday will have their items picked up on their next regular collection day (NOT the next day). Residents are reminded to have all materials to the curb by 7 a.m.
In the event of utilities service emergencies like a water line break, residents can call (941) 486-2770. This line is designated for emergencies only.
Veniceās annual fireworks display will light up the night sky July 4. The fireworks will be shot from the South Jetty Wednesday shortly after 9 p.m. The free show will last an estimated 30 minutes.
Although the South Jetty (Humphris Park) at 2000 Tarpon Center Drive and Jetty Jacks concessions will be closed for safety July 3-4, the fireworks display may be viewed on area beaches from Caspersen to Nokomis, as well as from other places around Venice.
