Update: Victim Identified in Sarasota Home Invasion
Deputies say the victim was killed.

Update Dec. 14, 9:36 a.m.: The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man killed in Sunday’s home invasion as Jonathan Jeffrey, 25. Deputies say a female resident at the 5603 Summerside Lane home told them three black males broke into the home and demanded money. As the suspects left the home, they shot and killed the woman’s husband.

According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, a home in the 5600 block of Summerside was broken into around 5:30 a.m. The victim of the home invasion robbery was killed during the incident, the sheriff’s office reported in an email to media.
While the investigation is preliminary, detectives believe the crime was committed by three adults, who fled the area after the attack.
