Sarasota Housing Authority Opens Waiting List For Section 8 Housing Voucher Choice Program

SARASOTA, FL — The Sarasota Housing Authority began accepting online pre-applications for its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program waiting list Friday at noon.

Pre-applications will be accepted online here through April 18 at noon, according to the SHA website. The website can be accessed from any computer, tablet or smartphone.

Those unable to apply online can request a paper pre-application in writing by mail to: HCV Application, 269 S Osprey Ave, Suite #100, Sarasota, FL 34236. Requests for paper applications may only be made in writing by mail, the housing authority said.

Completed paper applications must be returned by mail and postmarked no later than April 14. Applications postmarked after this date won’t be accepted.

After the deadline, SHA will randomly select 1,250 applicants in a lottery to form SHA’s actual waiting list for the HCV Program.
