Sarasota Man Charged With Drug Trafficking Near Daycare: Sheriff
Britt Rogers faces multiple felony drug charges after two undercover drug buys at his home, the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said.
SARASOTA COUNTY, FL ā A Sarasota man faces various felony drug charges, including drug trafficking near a daycare facility, after two undercover drug buys, the Sarasota County Sheriffās Office said in a news release.
Detectives first contacted 46-year-old Britt Rogers March 4 at his home located in the 2000 block of 25th Street, where he sold undercover detectives suspected heroin.
Four days later, on March 8, Rogers again sold detectives suspected heroin. Upon testing, though, the substance was determined to be a combination of both heroin and fentanyl, the sheriffās office said.

When detectives executed a search warrant on Rogersā home Thursday, they recovered a trafficking amount of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and dilaudids, as well as a firearm.
Despite his more than three dozen local prior arrests, Rogers is not a convicted felon and, as such, can have a firearm, the sheriffās office said.
Detectives also located several new and used Narcan nasal sprays, which contain prescription medication that reverses the effects of an overdose. In January, deputies responded on two separate occasions to Rogersā home, which is a known drug house, for overdoses. One of the two overdoses was fatal, the sheriffās office said.
Rogers was booked into the county jail Thursday on charges of trafficking in fentanyl, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, two counts of sale of fentanyl within 1,000 feet of a childcare facility, a single count of sale of heroin within 1,000 feet of a childcare facility and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
