Sarasota Man Faces 40 Child Pornography Charges

A 29-year-old Sarasota man is being held on $100,000 bond after Sarasota County deputies say he downloaded dozens of pictures and video files that contained child pornography.

Christopher McWatt was arrested Tuesday after the sheriff’s office and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force traced the downloads to his Internet Protocol (IP) address, the sheriff’s office said.

Detectives served a search warrant on McWatt’s home Tuesday and seized computers and storage devices. They were used “to hold child pornography, including images of sexual battery and bondage,” the sheriff’s office said.

McWatt faces 40 counts of possession of child pornography. He remained in the Sarasota County Jail Wednesday morning.
