Sarasota Man Killed In Shooting
Sarasota County deputies say the man was involved in an altercation at a home on Myakka Road.

SARASOTA, FL — A 35-year-old Sarasota man is dead following a Sunday night incident at a home on Myakka Road.
According to the agency, deputies responded to the 300 block of Myakka Road around 8:11 p.m. after getting calls about a shooting. When they arrived, they found Jason W. Head of Sarasota dead in front of the home. Head, an email from the agency stated, has a firearm in his possession.
“Preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Head instigated an altercation at the residence and fired his weapon at the other subject,” the email said. “Mr. Head was struck and killed when the other subject returned fire.”

The other person involved has been interviewed by detectives. No arrest has been made, but the sheriff’s office says the investigation is ongoing.
