Sarasota Man Sentenced For Witness Tampering In Domestic Violence Case: State Attorney

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — A Sarasota County man was sentenced to more than five years in prison after being convicted of tampering with a witness and 13 counts of violating pretrial release in connection with a domestic violence case, the State Attorney's Office for Florida's 12th Judicial Circuit said in a news release.

Prosecutors said Kareem Abdul Crocker committed a domestic battery against his girlfriend on Sept. 22, 2025, while on felony probation for a narcotics offense.

After his arrest, Crocker repeatedly violated a court-ordered no-contact order by calling the victim from jail and offered her $2,000 to drop the case, the state attorney’s office said.

When the victim later attempted to recant her allegations, prosecutors became suspicious and ordered an investigation, leading to additional charges of witness tampering and violating pretrial release.

Crocker is a convicted sex offender and classified as a Violent Felony Offender of Special Concern, the state attorney’s office said.
