Sarasota Millionaires Announce ex-NFL Player as Head Coach

Two-time NFL Pro Bowler and former Houston Oiler Ernest Givins will be the team's coach next year.

Former NFL player Ernest Givins has been named the new head coach of the Sarasota Millionaires.

The team said in a press release that as an ex-NFL star, Givins brings a wealth of talent and athletic insight to the team. Givins’ professional career began when he was picked by the Houston Oilers in the second round of the 1986 NFL Draft. The wide receiver spent nine of his 10 seasons in the NFL with the Oilers, including two selections to the Pro Bowl in 1990 and 1992.

“Our team was established in 2006, and we have already made tremendous accomplishments,” Millionaires owner Calvin Williams said. “With Ernest bringing his expertise to the field we are truly an unstoppable team. All we have to do is practice hard and execute smart defensive and offensive plays on game day, maintain the team spirit, and give 100% to ourselves and our community.”
