Sarasota Named 1 of America's Best Places to Grow Old

The Huffington Post asked and its Facebook fans answered. When the results of the unscientific survey were tallied, Sarasota was named to the website’s Top 6 list of places in America to grow old.

“There’s a reason it’s the demographically oldest ‘large’ county in the country,” the Huffington Post’s writers said of the city.

Sarasota was the only Florida community that made the list. The top pick was Sequim, Wash., followed by Edinburg, Texas, and Denver, Colo. Sarasota was named No. 4.
