Sarasota Republicans To Honor DeSantis As ‘Statesman Of The Year’

SARASOTA, FL — The Republican Party of Sarasota County will honor Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as its 2021 “Statesman of the Year” during an Oct. 15 dinner.

DeSantis will also be the primary speaker at the event, which will take place at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota at 1000 Boulevard of the Arts in Sarasota.

“You don’t want to miss Governor DeSantis’ deep political insights,” the Sarasota GOP wrote on the dinner’s Eventbrite page.

In a statement, Jack Brill, acting chairman of the Republican Party of Sarasota County, said, “Governor DeSantis is the most effective and popular governor in the United States among Republicans, and we are thrilled to honor him with this award.”

Previous winners of the “Statesman of the Year” award include former President Donald Trump — who won the award twice — Sen. Rick Scott, Sen. Ted Cruz, Vice President Dick Cheney, Rep. Liz Cheney, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour and Fox News radio host Sean Hannity.

A private reception kicks off the Oct. 15 event at 5:30 p.m. followed by a VIP reception at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m.

General admission “Patriot” tickets are $200 each and VIP individual tickets are $350 each. A VIP table for 10 costs $3,500, a “Governors Circle” table for 10 costs $5,000 and the “Senator’s Circle” table for 10 costs $10,000. Tickets can be purchased online here.
