Sarasota Sheriff Investigating After Woman Found Dead In Nokomis

NOKOMIS, FL – The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a woman was found dead in Nokomis Thursday afternoon.

Deputies responded to the 200 block of North Tamiani Trail just before 2:30 p.m. after a caller reported gunshots. When they arrived, they found the deceased woman.

The details of the shooting are unknown at this time, officials said, but "all parties are accounted for," according to the office's Facebook post.

Detectives said they do not believe there is any threat to the public.

The investigation is ongoing.
