Sarasota Shooting Victim Found Lying In Road Monday Night: Sheriff's Office

A 20-year-old man was seriously injured in a Sarasota shooting Monday evening and remains in intensive care, the sheriff's office said.

SARASOTA, FL — A man was seriously injured in a shooting in the 3400 block of Coronado Drive Monday evening.

Deputies found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound lying in the road just after 7:30 p.m., according to a news release from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

He was brought to an area hospital with serious injuries and remains in intensive care Tuesday. SCSO said. The victim’s name is being withheld under Marsy’s Law.

Witnesses reported hearing a single “pop” described as fireworks, according to the sheriff’s office.

The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asking to call the agency’s Criminal Investigations Section at 941-861-4900.
