Search Launched For Sarasota Home Invasion Suspect
The crime occurred late Monday night.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is on the hunt for a man it says broke into a home late Monday night armed with a semi-automatic handgun.
The incident unfolded around 10:30 p.m. in the 4400 block of Pike Avenue when a resident heard a knock at the door. When that door was opened, a man was standing there, armed with a black semi-automatic handgun, an email from the sheriff’s office stated.
The man stepped inside, took cash and prescription medication from the home and then left in an unknown vehicle, the email stated.

There are no reports of injury in this case.
The suspect is described as a black male with a slim build. He stands about 5 feet, 10 inches in height and was wearing a ski mask at the time of the robbery.
