Search On For Sarasota Home Invasion Suspect

The victim's daughter tried to stop the man from robbing her mother.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is on the hunt for a man it says invaded a home on Bayonne Street early Tuesday morning.

According to the sheriff’s office, the crime happened around 7:30 a.m. in the 1800 block when a man wearing all black, with a mask and gloves, entered a home. The man went into a woman’s bedroom and tried to swipe a purse that was lying on the bed next to her.

The victim’s daughter tried to grab the man and hold him, but her resisted and was able to get out of the home, an email to media stated.

The daughter, who has not been identified by deputies, was knocked to the floor in the scuffle and suffered minor injuries to her knee.

The man was last seen running west towards Varno Road.

Deputies have classified the crime as a robbery, home invasion.
