Semi-Truck Catches Fire On I-75 Early Thursday Morning: FHP
A semi-trailer truck hauling produce caught fire early Thursday morning on Interstate 75 in Venice, Florida Highway Patrol said.
VENICE, FL — A semi-trailer truck hauling produce caught fire early Thursday morning on Interstate 75 in Venice, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
The truck was traveling north on I-75 around 2 a.m. when the driver, a 60-year-old Tampa man, noticed smoke coming from the trailer at mile marker 190, near River Road.
He steered onto the shoulder and as the trailer became engulfed in flames, detached it from the truck's cab, FHP said.

The outside and center northbound lanes were closed because of the fire, but have since reopened. There were no injuries.
