SKOB Aims to Help Mote's Dolphins

Mote must raise more than $100,000 each year to provide staff, equipment and treatment tanks to care for injured and sick sea animals.

Siesta Key Oyster Bar is holding a raffle to benefit Mote Marine Laboratory’s Dolphin and Whale Hospital and the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital.

The winner of the raffle, which continues through Dec. 2, will receive a private tour with Mote’s visiting penguins; an “on the water” experience with a Mote scientist; a painting by Mote’s resident dolphin, Moonshine; and other great prizes.

Before her release, the dolphin Ginger alone devoured $175 worth of pinfish a day during her two-month rehabilitation. Without Mote, she never would have survived. 

Raffle tickets at SKOB are one for $5 and three for $10. The drawing party will be held at Siesta Key Oyster Bar, 5238 Ocean Blvd., on Friday, Dec. 2, beginning at 7 p.m. The winning tickets will be drawn at 8:30, though the winner need not be present to win. Live entertainment by Rising Tide.
