Parrish Teen Launches Custom Bakery
A Parrish teenager who graduated from Palmetto’s Educational Harbor Christian School and attends the State College of Florida has launched her own custom bakery.

Juliana Donnelly, 17, started her business, The Pastry Corner, early in the pandemic, in October 2020, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. Her goal is to travel abroad and find internships with bakeries overseas, perhaps in France or Italy.
“My inspiration comes from looking at different things, pictures, other people’s work. I take notes, come up with a new idea. I’ll do a sketch and talk about it with the customer, make it perfect for them,” she said.

“Sopranos”-Themed Wine Bar Opens in Gulf Gate
The Soprano’s Social Club and Wine Bar, a tribute to the popular HBO series, has opened in Sarasota’s Gulf Gate neighborhood.
The bar was founded by a New Jersey native, Mitchell Soffer, who was inspired by “Sopranos” viewing parties his wife hosted while the show was still on, according to Sarasota magazine.
Sopranos’ next pop-up wine tasting will take place Saturday.
Tsunami Sushi & Hibachi to Open in Lakewood Ranch
After significant construction delays, Tsunami Sushi & Hibachi is finally opening in Lakewood Ranch next month.
The restaurant is set to open in The Green development, which is also home to a Winn-Dixie grocery store.
Its owner initially started talking about its opening in June 2021, according to Observer Media Group. Supply chain issues set construction back and delayed the opening.
Jimmy John’s Opens at Sarasota Bradenton Airport
The sandwich chain Jimmy John’s has opened at the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport, according to Aviation Pros. It’s the brand’s second-ever airport location.
It can be found beyond the security gate on the second level of the Main Terminal on Concourse B and will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Twin Peaks Restaurant Planned for Sarasota
The Twin Peaks restaurant chain is coming to Sarasota. The brand, which was founded in Texas, will open a location in the new Fruitville Commons development at I-75 and Fruitville Road, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
The chain is known for its made-from-scratch American food and signature 29-degree draft beers.
The permit for the space at 3080 Fruitville Commons Boulevard calls for a restaurant with an outdoor covered patio.
Pacific Counter Coming to the Landings
A poke bowl and sushi burrito restaurant, Pacific Counter, will open a location in Sarasota’s The Landings.
Owners of the St. Pete-based chain decided to open the new Sarasota location after noticing many diners were traveling from as far away as Venice to visit their Lakewood Ranch eatery, according to Sarasota magazine.
