South FL Man Dies At Crescent Beach: Sarasota County Sheriff

SARASOTA, FL — The death of a 76-year-old South Florida man at Crescent Beach is under investigation, authorities said.

Deputies were called to the 1000 block of Seaside Drive in Sarasota Saturday just after noon for reports of a drowning, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office shared to its Facebook page.

Though paramedics performed first aid on the victim, Francisco Telesforo Campos La Nuez of Hollywood died at the scene, SCSO said. His family has been notified.

It’s unknown whether his death was because of a medical issue or a drowning, the sheriff’s office said. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause of death.
