Stabbing Near Selby Five Points Park Under Investigation: Police
After a stabbing near Selby Five Points Park, the victim and suspect were both brought to a nearby hospital Tuesday, Sarasota police said.
SARASOTA, FL — Police are investigating a stabbing near Selby Five Points Park in downtown Sarasota Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
The stabbing happened on Central Avenue and there is “a large presence of officers” near the park, Sarasota police wrote on their Facebook page around 2:15 p.m.
Both the suspect and the victim were brought to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

“At this time, it’s unknown why the stabbing happened,” police said.
The park, owned and operated by the city’s Parks and Recreation District, is near the Sarasota Opera House, Selby Public Library, and downtown shops, restaurants, and bars.
