SARASOTA, FL — Writer Stephen King has never been afraid to share his political opinions on social media, and recently criticized Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis and former President Donald Trump on Twitter.

Ahead of Trump’s Sunday appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference — the former president’s first public appearance since he left office in January — King shared a reminder for his Twitter followers.

“When Donald Trump gets a standing O at CPAC, remember they’re applauding a man who fomented a riot in the US Capital and who, thanks to stupidity, ineptitude, and callous disregard, killed hundreds of thousands of Americans. That is who they are applauding,” the horror writer and part-time Sarasota County resident tweeted Friday.

Days later, King criticized the governor for his tribute to conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh, who died in February.

“Ron DeSantis wanted the flags flown at half-staff for Rush Limbaugh. What a tool,” King tweeted Sunday.

He had previously slammed the governor in recent weeks for using pop-up vaccine clinics in Manatee County’s wealthiest ZIP codes for “political gain.”

The famous writer also discussed his upcoming second dose of the Moderna vaccine, which he’s scheduled to receive Friday in Pasco County. He received his first dose there in early February.

King posed a question for fans on Twitter, asking, “If I give blood a week or two later, would the person receiving my pint of A Negative get any kind of immunity boost?”

Ultimately, he determined the answer to that question: “Probably not.”
