'Stranded Motorist' Served as Front Woman for Home Invasion, Deputies Say

The incident unfolded in Sarasota early Monday morning.

A Sarasota man awakened by a knock on his door Monday morning got more than he bargained for by answering.

According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, that knock came around 2:45 a.m. and was initiated by a woman in her 20s. She told the man her car had broken down and that she needed help.

Seeing a four-door white vehicle parked nearby, the man opened the door to assist the stranded motorist. When he did, however, deputies say two gun-toting men in their 20s rushed into the door and struck the man in the head.
