Summer Camps 2015: Send the Kids Into the Woods

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission offers two sleepover camps for children 9 to 14.

Tampa Bay area parents on the hunt for summer adventures for their kids might want to look into two offerings delivered by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

That agency has two sleepover camps for kids ages 9 to 14:

Everglades Youth Conservation Camp

This camp is held at the J.W. Corbett Wildlife Management Area in Palm Beach County. The sleepover camp is geared to kids who have completed the third to eighth grades, but also offers a leadership component for children in ninth through 12th grade.

Campers enjoy air conditioned cabins set on 252 acres of land. Activities include archery, fishing, swimming, hiking and more. The cost is $360 per session.

Ocala Outdoor Adventure Camp

Set on 57 acres in the Ocala National Forest, this camp features lots of outdoor activities, including fishing, swimming and archery. The cost is $295 a week, which includes all fees and meals.
