Suspect Fatally Shot Man At Ex-Wife’s Sarasota Home: Sheriff

A man picking up his 14-year-old son from his ex-wife's Sarasota home fatally shot another man who was at her house, sheriff's office said.

SARASOTA, FL — The suspect in the fatal shooting of a 47-year-old man Saturday morning in Sarasota faces multiple charges, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Saladine Monroe, 41, showed up at the home of his ex-wife, which is in the 2300 block of Britannia Road, unannounced to visit their 14-year-old son around 11:40 a.m.

When his ex-wife told him to wait outside while she went to a neighbor’s home to get the boy, Monroe entered her house and looked around, SCSO said. While in her home, he found the victim, whose identity isn’t being released in accordance with Marsy’s Law, in a spare bedroom.
